Attendance at both the Pre-Festival dances and the Impromptu Teaches was outstanding.  Thanks to all that participated!  We picked up 7 couples that registered at the door after attending the Pre-Festival activities.  Once you see it, you just have to stay for the entire event!

Harvest Holiday Festival

The Festival commenced with a Welcome Dance Friday afternoon, and an evening programmed party dance with the program selections coming from attendee votes. Following the dance, everyone was invited to the Chairman’s Suite for the Friday Night Party, consisting of Mexican Taco Salad, a variety of desserts, and, of course, libations. Another tradition following the Chairman’s party is the “Die-Hard" session back in the ballroom.  We had great attendance this year and those that partook danced anything they could think of until past 1:30 a.m.

The Festival teaches presented by Curt & Tammy Worlock on Saturday were:

  • THAT'S YOU VI - Ph 6 Foxtrot by Ron & Ree Rumble (released in November 2008)
  • FEEL MY LOVE - Ph 6 Bolero by Curt & Tammy Worlock (released in August 2008)

Both dances were extremely well received, and most were dancing them very well by the time the weekend was over.  The Sunday morning review always helps to clean up the problem spots.

Curt & Tammy did their usual "magic" and did a fantastic job with their clinic teach approach.  There were quite a few Phase 6 figures in the Foxtrot, but their teaching methods were enough to get even the non-Ph 6 dancer doing the figures with style and grace.

After the Harvest Ball on Saturday evening, everyone returned to their rooms to change into their comfort clothes and returned at 11 p.m. for the annual catered breakfast held in the Ballroom.  When all were sufficiently stuffed, Christine Hixson began the “Die-Easy” after party consisting of all those Phase 2 thru 4 classic or novelty dances we all love so much.  The session lasted until 2 a.m., which is a testament to the enjoyment we all get from this "wind-down" after a week of higher level dancing and teaches.

Sunday morning began at 8:30 with coffee and donuts in the Chairman’s Suite.  This is a great time to visit with friends on the final morning and to Pre-Register for 2009.

The review of the Festival teaches began about 9:30 in the Ballroom, and Curt & Tammy had about 2 hours to work on any trouble spots in both of their great teaches.  The attendance was outstanding, which is a very strong indication that the dancers really liked these two dances and wanted to make sure they had them totally under their belt.

The 2009 Harvest Holiday Festival will once again feature Curt & Tammy Worlock.  We are very excited about having them return for our 49th Annual Harvest Holiday Festival after enjoying them so much this year. The 2010 Festival will be our golden anniversary year, and our featured instructors will be Bill & Carol Goss.  Mark you calendar now -- you will not want to miss this party!
